FR125 Engines and RM1 Karts

Rotax Engine
"Rotax Max is more than a karting class based around a spec engine, it is the embodiment of a return to the art of racing.  In a sport that has always been a combination of science and art, these sealed engines have minimized the role of science by combining maximum performance with 50 hours of running time backed by a 6 month warranty."  For most racers, that means it will be about 2 or 3 seasons before their Rotax engine will need a major rebuild.  Compare that to some other classes, where to be competitive, the engine needs to be rebuilt every 10 races or so translating into 2 times per season.  With that kind of savings, the Rotax is the most cost-effective engine in kart racing.  "Support this affordable technology with a worldwide program of regional, national and world championships and you have the Rotax Max Challenge.

It should also be noted that the Rotax FR125 is the ORIGINAL TAG or touch and go engine, meaning that it has an on-board electric starter.  Other kart engine companies have copied the concept  and have come up with their own engines, and a class has even been created for these engines, including the Rotax.. Guess what?  The Rotax is very competitive, popular, and has proven to be very reliable in that class too.   This gives the Rotax FR125 engine added value in that it can compete in the Rotax Max Program and the TAG Program.
CRG kali with Rotax Engine Package
Since the Rotax engines have on-board electric start, there is no need for push starting, rope tugging or electric starter lugging.  That allows the karting enthusiast to attend events with a minimal pit crew.

To the left is a CRG Kali equipped with the Rotax FR125 engine package.  This is a very popular package.  It sells for around $5,500

RM1 Front ViewThen there is the Rotax RM1.
This is indeed the most innovative racing kart on the market.  Rotax came up with their own unique chassis design.  They then came up with most unique kart engine and drive train.  The engine, clutch and transmission are one piece.  That in itself is not unique, since a system like that has been standard issue on motorcycles for years.  What is most unique is that the kart's axle protrudes through the gearbox eliminating the troublesome chain drive.

The features don't stop there.  This kart is equipped with a 125cc water-cooled, power valve equipped, two stroke engine.  The engine puts out close to 30 bhp.  The powerful
RM1 rear view engine is equipped with a 2-speed transmission to provide outstanding performance at both the low end and top end. ...and that's not all, this machine even runs in reverse at the flick of a switch!  Like the FR125, the RM1 is equipped with on-board electric start, making this the most user-friendly, and fun-to-drive kart on the market.

The RM1 not only goes fast, and is user friendly, it is also has unique safety features.  Of course it is equipped with four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.  It also features an energy absorbing front spoiler/bumper that also provides great aero-dynamic characteristics.  At the rear is a full coverage, energy absorbing rear bumper as well.

With all of these features, the RM1 can easily be called the most innovative, most user friendly, and more importantly, most fun machine in the sport !
