2005 News

February 18, 2005

The schedule has received final approval from Rotax and will be posted to their web site soon.  Please take another look at the schedule.  I made some additions.  The seventh race will be a non-points race.  The local seasons had to be finished by Aug. 16.  I managed to get a waiver for the Aug. 20 race.

The top half of our field will qualify to go to the Nationals this year.  Please plan to participate.

The teams cup for the Northeast region will be at the facilities of the Oakland Valley Karting Assn. in New York.  That is certainly within range for the Keystone-Buckeye racers.  I hope a group of you can get a team together to represent our region.  Those points count toward our regions championship.  Unfortunately, I can't attend the regions cup due to a schedule conflict, but hopefully you can.

There's good news for Rotax-Max enthusiasts in the Western Pennsylvania / Eastern Ohio Region.  The 2005 Rotax-Max schedule for the region has finally been released.  No longer will the Rotax karts be run with the TAG class for the R-Max challenge events at Beaverun.  The Rotax racers will now get their own session on the track for the official R-Max race dates.  This means that those drivers will have the option of running both Tag and Rotax Max, but most importan, they will be able to enjoy the benefits that they got into Rotax max in the first place, ie., sealed engine, the same spec tires, in other words, a level playing field that places the emphasis on driving and chassis set-up.  Also new this season is the additon of three races at Thompson Raceway.  Not only will this shorter track present a new challenge, but all of these races will be held on Saturday nights, under the lights.

Please keep in mind that in order to be elegible for these races, drivers must have an official Rotax license,  their karts must comply with the R-Max rules, and they must have a sealed engine and passport.

There is a new spec tire for Rotax Max.  It is the Mojo and will be available soon at Bergfelt Racing Enterprises.  Please contact them so that they know how many tires to order for the beginning of the season.
